Sister Joan Miller

We were so saddened to hear of the passing of Sister Joan. Both Claudette & I sang in the choir with her over many years. She was such an inspiration.
In 2015 she was the inspiration of making a tribute documentary on her life that we called MUSICAL NUN. We couldn’t have chosen a better subject. We spend many weeks filming & getting to know her better. If only more had had the time to talk with her, she had quite an amazing life.
I’m sure there will be many of St Augustine congregation that knew her  would be interested in seeing this documentary on her life.
It’s easy to access via Youtube by typing “Musical Nun”

Memo from the Archbishop

In a memo dated May 21, 2020, I granted a general dispensation from the Sunday obligation to attend Mass to all the faithful through Sunday, September 6, 2020. We are all aware that the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic continue. In light of this: the dispensation from the Sunday obligation to attend Mass is granted to the faithful through January 1, 2021. Obviously, this could change depending on circumstances.
A number of questions have arisen relative to choirs and congregational singing at Mass. Congregational singing and choirs at Mass, according to Provincial guidelines, “should not be allowed.” The use of a single cantor with an accompanist is being recommended.

St. Vincent de Paul

Hampers are available at the East entrance of the church from 2-3pm every Wednesday during the Covid 19 pandemic. Please bring your identification and a bag. All proper protocol will be followed during this time.
