Food, Fun, and Festivities. An Event You Don’t Want to Miss

What is a community?
Is it many individuals who live alone in separate houses, isolated from their neighbours
or coworkers? Or is it a group of people who come together, interact, and spend joyful
time with each other?
As we arise from a miserable and quarantined pandemic, St. Augustine invites
everyone to experience a united community of people living together. The first Festival
of Joy will be held on Saturday, August 13, at 1 pm.
There are numerous things that bring people enormous happiness: eating mouth-
watering food, listening to heartwarming music, or meeting new people. The Festival of
Joy is proudly home to all these fun activities, and many more.
Brandon is a place of unending cultural diversity, with global representation of people
from all over the world. St. Augustine’s Festival of Joy is where you can see, meet, and
taste your community’s ethnic diversity. Multicultural food world will be made straight
from families homes and available for you to eat. After all, there’s often nothing better
than tasting new food and realizing that you consumed it with delight.
The Festival of Joy is also the place to burn the calories you gained by eating
international cuisine. Fun activities and games like: tug a war, sack race, three legged
race, face painting, woolly shepherd and many more, organized for both the youngest
children and the oldest adults. Working together towards the common goal of winning a
game is the best way to bring a community together. The festival is the perfect
opportunity for this teamwork and community cooperation.
And to fill the background, the community’s musicians will perform live music on a
stage. Many people have talents rarely seen, but the Festival of Joy will be a day for the
musicians to shine and demonstrate their musical abilities. The music is not limited
solely to the musicians, however. Singing from all community members at the festival
will be encouraged- an opportunity for you to feel a unified community by singing under
one voice with others.
For those curious about the Catholic lifestyle, the festival will also involve a Holy Mass
and prayers. The Festival of Joy is the perfect opportunity to start finding internal
happiness, peace, and self-improvement alongside others who strive to do the same.
What’s not to enjoy about the festival? While the summer is still in sight and before the
cold winter quickly rolls around the corner, St. Augustine’s Festival of Joy is the best
time to come together as a community. Spice up the last month of summer by meeting
new and diverse people, eating homemade food you’ll find nowhere else, and playing
games that make you smile and laugh.
Just don’t forget to bring a lawn chair and a water bottle. Although summer is slowly
ending, August can still have scorching heat in store.
Save the date -August 13. Find the Festival of Joy at 327 4th; Street, Brandon, Manitoba.
